LGPSolver - Solving Logic Grid Puzzles Automatically (2020.findings-emnlp)

Challenge: Logic grid puzzle solvers can solve word algebra and logic puzzles in any domain with 100% accuracy.
Approach: They propose a method that uses a DistilBERT-based classifier to classify a clue into one of the predefined predicate types for logic grid puzzles.
Outcome: The proposed solution outperforms state-of-the-art solutions by a large margin on a given dataset.

Challenge: Existing systems for logical reasoning have surpassed the average performance of humans in many tasks like SQuAD but there is still a long way to go when it comes to logical reasoning.
Approach: They propose an InDicator-Oriented Logic Pre-training task which logically strengthens pre-trained models with the help of 6 types of logical indicators and a logicalally rich dataset.
Outcome: The proposed task achieves state-of-the-art on ReClor and LogiQA, the two most representative benchmarks in logical reasoning MRC.
Enhancing Accessible Communication: from European Portuguese to Portuguese Sign Language (2023.findings-emnlp)

Challenge: Existing systems for translating European Portuguese into LGP glosses rely on hand-crafted rules . current systems rely only on toy examples, disregarding non-manual movements .
Approach: They propose a corpora-driven rule-based machine translation system between European Portuguese and LGP glosses and two neural machine translation models.
Outcome: The proposed system improves on existing translation systems and annotates a gold collection of the results.
